Historic WA Pub - Chidlow Tavern - Perth Hotel

“Thank you”

“Hey guys. I was part of the group who came in for lunch today. Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all the staff for being so welcoming and friendly despite the high demands of orders. It makes such a difference to the experience when people are friendly, not to mention the food was delicious. It was a wonderful day.”

“Classic Country Pub”

This little tavern is the classic country pub, the decor isn’t flash and the food isn’t ‘fancy’ but the staff are super friendly and efficient, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy. They have a huge menu with something to suit everyone and the meals are really well priced and huge servings!! Their wine list has a nice range on it including some wines from local producers and they have approx 8 beers on tap. Definitely worth a drive for a Sunday lunch in the beer garden or a cozy dinner by the fire, they have a great range of mid week specials too!

“Chidlow Cuisine”

On our last Perth Hills Pub stop for a drink and dinner, we found this old railway stop tavern a great place to visit!  The bar and dining room were decorated with lovely railway antiques.  Dinner was a choice of steak fillet, chicken fillet and Turkish steak sandwiches all served with a lovely salad and chips – a compliment to the chef.

 “Surprising Little Spot

Whilst camping at Lake Leschenaultia nearby we decided to go for a pub lunch with our two children aged 8 and 4.  The Chidlow Tavern is only a short drive so we went and tried the local option.  The great website also  helped with the choice.  On arrival we were greeted politely enough and asked what we wanted to do.  We were shown to a nice table out in the under cover area which is part of fairly major renovations being done by the owner.  The kids went straight for the little play park in the garden.  After ordering drinks we met Norm, he is the owner and so enthusiastic about the place, he has some lovely ideas for the future.  He had already collected an impressive amount of local railway memorabilia.  We ordered kids fish and chips, prawn pasta, home made rissoles and a bacon sandwich.  All meals were of a good size, came out together in a timely fashion and were all delicious and great value for money.  In closing this place is a country gem that offers good old fashioned hospitality with well priced, good quality pub food.  Don’t go and expect a glitzy Perth type restaurant and you will be pleasantly surprised.  I’m keen to go back in a while and see how the place is coming along.
